Extending Ultra-Diffuse Galaxy abundances to Milky Way analogues

چکیده
ABSTRACT We extend the Ultra-Diffuse Galaxy (UDG) abundance relation, NUDG − M200, to lower halo mass hosts $(M_{200}\sim 10^{11.6-12.2}\, \mathrm{M}_{\odot })$. select UDG satellites from published catalogues of dwarf satellite galaxies around Milky Way analogues, namely Exploration Local Volume Satellites (ELVES) survey, Satellite Around Galactic Analogs (SAGA) and a survey Way-like systems conducted using Hyper-Suprime Cam. Of 516 total 75 hosts, we find that 41 33 satisfy criteria. The distributions host masses peak $M_{200}\sim 10^{12}\, }$, independent whether has or not. use literature abundances those derived here trace M200 relation over three orders magnitude down $M_{200}=10^{11.6}\, }$ best-fitting linear $N_{\mathrm{ UDG}} = (38\pm 5) (\frac{M_{200}}{10^{14}})^{0.89\,\,\pm ~ 0.04}$. This sub-linear slope is consistent with earlier studies as well relations for brighter galaxies, excluding UDG-formation mechanisms require high-density environments. However, highlight need further homogeneous characterization UDGs across wide range environments properly understand relation.

Fluorine Abundances in the Milky Way Bulge
Fluorine (F) abundances are derived in a sample of 6 bulge red giants in Baade’s Window. These giants span a factor of 10 in metallicity and this is the first study to define the behavior of F with metallicity in the bulge. The bulge results show an increase in F/O with increasing oxygen. This trend overlaps what is found in the disk at comparable metallicities, with the most oxygen-rich bulge ...
متن کاملOxygen Abundances in the Milky Way Using X-ray Absorption Measurements towards Galaxy Clusters
We present measurements of the oxygen abundance of the Milky Way’s ISM by observing the K-shell X-ray photoionization edge towards galaxy clusters. This effect is most easily observed towards objects with galactic columns (nH) of a few times 1021 cm−2. We measure X-ray column densities towards 11 clusters and find that at high galactic columns above approximately 1021 cm−2 the X-ray columns are...
متن کاملGalaxy Formation: Clues from the Milky Way
Stellar Populations are the fossil record of Galactic evolution. Interpretation of this record in the Local Group allows one to determine reliably the dominant physics controlling the evolution of those galaxies which are typical of the luminosity in the Universe, and is an essential prerequisite to understanding necessarily limited data at high redshifts. In our Galaxy, the key issues are the ...
متن کاملChemodynamical Simulations of the Milky Way Galaxy
We present chemodynamical simulations of a Milky Way-type galaxy using a selfconsistent hydrodynamical code that includes supernova feedback and chemical enrichment, and predict the spatial distribution of elements from Oxygen to Zinc. In the simulated galaxy, the kinematical and chemical properties of the bulge, disk, and halo are consistent with the observations. The bulge formed from the ass...
متن کاملBlack holes in the milky way galaxy.
Extremely strong observational evidence has recently been found for the presence of black holes orbiting a few relatively normal stars in our Milky Way Galaxy and also at the centers of some galaxies. The former generally have masses of 4-16 times the mass of the sun, whereas the latter are "supermassive black holes" with millions to billions of solar masses. The evidence for a supermassive bla...
